Contact Kate

This feature has been disabled again. Thanks, hackers! Just like below, should you need to reach me in a timely manner, please leave a comment.

Please note that the chances of me responding to nearly anything in a timely manner is somewhere in the slim-to-none category, so if for some reason you need an immediate response, please leave a comment below. And no, if your kitchen is on fire, I am not an appropriate contact. Please call the fire department.

Dear Book Reviewer,

The new Author E.M.S. website (http://www.authorems.com) is launching a searchable Database of Online Book Reviewers (DOBR). We would love to include information about your reviews on this database.

Benefits to your site/blog:
- free added visibility and name recognition
- time saved by receiving relevant review requests instead of answering questions for dozens or hundreds of authors

Benefits to authors:
- the ability to search for blogs by genre, length, format and learn vital statistics and relevant contact information
- time saved by not researching all review blogs

We'd like to invite you to fill out a detailed survey so we can build an accurate profile of your site/blog. Once the database launches (ETA: Oct. 2011), we will contact you twice per year for updates or you may contact us anytime with new information and we'll input it immediately.

If you're interested in participating, please reply to this email by August 12, 2011 and we will send you the information to access the survey on our website. We also welcome any questions you may have.

Thanks for your support of authors, readers and great books!

Sincerely,

Amy Atwell

Thank you Kate for all the books you have opened up on Audio.
I do not mean to gush and weary you down with words of empty praise. I have never in my 40 years contacted a public figure and I am slightly embarrassed to do so now.
But.
You have an amazing voice and your style of reading has swept me to Tar Valon, introduced me to Jasnah and Shallan, described the caves of the last humans holding out against the Souls and to my surprise, walked me through the Life of Jesus.
I have listened to thousands of hours of audio books (not an exaggeration) and my preference in narrator’s voice has always been “rather male than female”. In my opinion, so many female voices become syrupy and childlike (more moron-like, but I am trying to be nice) in situations where the narrator tried for depth. Your strength for me has always been the control that you have over your voice and the understanding of the character and/or situation.
I am not a professional voice judge, just an audio addict; I can only say that you have the best female voice that I have ever listened to.
You have also been a role model too me. A couple of years ago, I was attacked by a nasty breast cancer bug and had some free time on my hands due to chemo etc. I eventually realised that I could combine the fact that I had time, that I loved books and that I felt a need to do something for someone else and not be a victim of other’s sympathy the whole time. I contacted “Tape Aids for the blind” and for a while, my life changed. I started reading for them and absolutely loved it.
I worked very hard and practised different voices and voice tones constantly, concentrating on listening to how the successful narrators express themselves and control their voices. I realised during this time that all my narrators were male, and I had no role model in female voices, except for you. A lot of the other female voices were a help too though, in how NOT to do it.
All good things must come to an end and I eventually kicked cancer butt and had to start working for a living again. I pray that South Africa will one day also have a career path open in Audio Books (as in one that actually pays) because this is my passion and the only thing I have ever felt completed in doing.
Thank you for inspiring me, thank you for consistently performing at such a high standard.
I’ll be listening for more.

Hope, I really appreciate these lovely words, but unfortunately I'm not the narrator who has inspired you! Sadly, I've never done a voice narration at all, but your wonderful sentiments would be a boon to whoever has inspired you so much.

All the best for you, your health, and your future.

Oh my!

And it took me so long to convince myself to write this!

So sorry for the confusion, I should have checked before.

In any case, go check out Kate Reading on Audible.com - absolutely stunning.

Hey Kate!

I just ran across your blog and decided to contact you about my new philanthropic organization called Gone Reading International.

We market a line of gifts for readers and donate 100% of company profits to fund new libraries in the developing world. Check us out at www.GoneReading.com.

Any chance you can mention us in your blog???

As you can imagine, spreading the word on a philanthropic budget is a challenge! Let me know what you think, and thanks in advance for your time.

Brad

P.S. I couldn’t find an email contact on your site, but please feel free to reach out to me at brad.wirz@gonereading.com!
